Economic Development.

Alaska’s Future.

Software is the future of every industry as more of the world is interconnected, automated, and run by computers. Alaska’s past as a resource rich state perfectly positions us for a strong future for software professionals and for a more sound future for us all.

A rising tide lifts all boats - and our State’s software professionals are happy to be a part of that tide.

Creating Jobs.

Envision a future where families are together all the time- a future without having to choose between a career or staying in the town of your choosing.

The Alaska Developers Alliance strongly believes in a future where software professionals can play a leadership role in our economy, by filling high-paying jobs created by Alaskan companies or working remotely from Alaska for national companies.

We seek to partner with Alaskan organizations of every size to further the availability of quality software professional jobs located within the state of Alaska.

Sharing Knowledge.

Sharing our communal knowledge as software professionals is at the core of our organization.

Learning, teaching, and helping each other overcome problems keeps us motivated. We seek to better our craft by sharing our knowledge with other Alaskan software professionals.

We want to partner with companies and organizations that seek to share their knowledge and best practices with others, through our regular member events or one-off training.

Work Locally

Alaska Developer’s Alliance members are local Alaskans, working for Alaskan companies. Over 75% of our membership base is employed in their local community, ranging from Anchorage to Fairbanks and all the way out to the Aleutian Islands. Our members hail from the data centers of GCI, the offices of their own business, the towers of ANTHC, the halls of UAF, and even the ski hill at Girdwood. We represent students, first-time employees, seasoned developers, industry experts, and even world-renowned authors and speakers.

Remote work.

Getting outside of Alaska might be geographically challenging, but 25% of our members work with national companies on a daily basis as remote-first workers within the state’s borders. Relishing a low tax rate, resident hunting and fishing, and the most pristine outdoor wilderness in the United States, our remote-first members are senior-level software professionals. Alaska’s cultural values are being represented in some of the largest technology companies which include Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and many multi-billion dollar Silicon Valley companies.

Because our members strongly believe in sharing what we know, the Alaskan software professional community benefits from the training and experience of these world-class companies when our remote-first members share what they know with local software professionals to enhance our State’s technology knowledge as a whole.

Our Economy and Remote Tech work.

During the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, the global technology sector began to realize that remote work was possible for all employees. Alaska is uniquely positioned to accept new remote-first employees from the lower 48 states into our state, into our software professional community, and into our local communities.

Remote-first technology workers bring not only economic benefits to the surrounding community, but bring knowledge, best practices, and experience serving diverse customers into the state’s collective knowledge of technology. This allows us to focus on and grow our strengths locally.

Average Salary.

It is no secret that technology salaries tend to be very large. For software professionals fortunate to get a job with an up-and-coming technology company, the stock options granted to them usually allow them to never have to work again. We strongly encourage our members to look both locally and outside of Alaska for career opportunities and provide help with remote-first challenges.

Our dream for Alaska is to have remote-first software professionals working and living as a part of their local communities. We dream of professionals who are able to work from not only Anchorage, but further out communities in the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta, the Kenai Peninsula, or even up in Nome. The impact that even a few remote-first technology workers could have in enriching their communities is outstanding.
